2023 Impact Report
In 2023 Friends of Tryon Creek:
Directly reached 5,130 youth adults and families through programs and events.
Organized over 320 volunteers who gave over 5,400 hours to park events & stewardship.
Welcomed 24,922 visitors to the Nature Center.
We tend the land, teach youth and adults, and make Tryon Creek State Natural Area a place EVERYONE can find or build their connection to nature.
This year’s main accomplishments include:
Programs
Continued the long tradition of field trips and nature day camp programming at the park.
Extended our BIPOC-centered Tryon Ecological Adventures Day Camp program.
Organized 25 public events at the park, including large events like: Indigenous Culture Day, Trillium Festival, Autumn Amble, and others.
Sustained partnerships with Tribes, Indigenous organizations, BIPOC-led non-profits, agencies, academics, individuals, and the general public.
Community Investment
Exceeded our fundraising goal as first-time participants in Willamette Week’s Give!Guide.
Reached $1.6 million dollar Capital Campaign Education Pavilion goal, with a successful project groundbreaking.
Increased individual donations by 44%, with a total of 894 donations!
Capacity Building
Launched a cultural and ecological restoration of Tryon forest, with new program lead staff hired.
Built the foundation for a workforce development program, with a successful program lead hired.
Hired Executive Assistant to support organizational operations, fundraising, and board support.
Welcomed 6 new Board Members to our full Board of Directors.
