An annual event that celebrates the blooming of Trillium flowers and spring in the forest and beyond. The day includes a plant sale, learning activities on the trails, environmental booths, special member events and more. Held every year in early April.

Tryon Ecology Adventures or TEA is a camp program that prioritizes BIPOC youth ages 7-12 and their families. Youth can expect to hike, make friends, learn about the forest, and build community within this special urban forest.

An annual celebration of the reclamation of traditional lands for Indigenous Peoples that provides an accurate cultural experience for the whole community. This free, all-ages event offers the chance to listen and learn from Indigenous educators in the culturally rich land now known as Tryon Creek State Natural Area. Takes place every year in May.

Land Tending Days include hiking through the forest, identifying plants that grow nearby the creek, and learning efficient tool usage and planting techniques. While in community, volunteers will be learning and practicing how to repair the riparian areas along Tryon Creek, which have been negatively impacted by the intentional and unintentional transporting of plant species and the exclusion of Indigenous land practices like harvesting and burning. Active in the fall, winter and spring.

Join Friends of Tryon Creek staff for an early evening full moon hike to celebrate seasonal changes and the Tryon community. Depending on group sizes, we will offer multiple hiking options up to 2-miles long. We will stop along the way to share with each other and experience the sights and sounds of the evening forest. Takes place year round.
