Instructor / Camper Ratio

Each full day and CIT peer group has no more than twelve campers per instructor. Half day groups are smaller with up to nine campers per Instructor.

All Instructors are paid staff members who have been background checked, first aid certified and have experience working with children. In addition, each group is supported by one or two high school aged Counselors. These youth volunteers receive training and mentoring throughout the summer and often return year after year. Many of our high school aged Counselors began their relationship with Tryon Creek as campers!

Before and After Camp Care (SUMMER ONLY)

Extended care is offered for all campers starting at 8 am. Full day and CIT campers can participate in after care until 5 pm. There is no extended care at 1 pm for half day camps. The pre-registered rates are $10 per day for before care and $20 per day for after care. If extended care is added after the start of a camp session, the regular rates are $15 per day for before care and $30 per day for after care.

Medications at Camp

If your camper requires medications please contact the Camp Director for a medication authorization form and to have a conversation about your camper's needs.

Allergies at Camp

We are NOT a peanut free camp. We understand the seriousness of food allergies and are happy to work with you and your camper. Our philosophy is to educate each other about our differences and learn to work together to keep everyone healthy. If your camper has an allergy, please indicate on the registration form. If the allergy is severe, we will contact you for detailed instructions.

Behavior Expectations

At Nature Day Camp we cultivate a community of respect. We can accommodate many behavior differences at camp if our Instructors know how to best support your camper. Please share strategies that work well for you during the online registration process. We are also happy to discuss your needs in more detail by contacting the Camp Director.

Behavior that cannot be effectively managed during a camp program includes, but is not limited to physical violence or threats, emotional abuse, or purposefully leaving adult supervision. Campers that engage in this behavior will be sent home. Camp fees cannot be refunded after camp has started.
